Ustadh Aziz Torofdar is the founder of Pure Tajweed Institute. He is a qualified secondary school teacher with 20 years of experience, and a Quran teacher who has completed Quran Tajweed studies with Shaykh Muhammed Hamdy Al-Azhari (Egypt). He has successfully completed the initial years of a traditional Alimiyyah course, under the supervision of Shaykh Mawlana Kamaluddin Ahmed (UK). He has studied subjects including Tajweed, Tafsir, Hadith and Fiqh as well as Sarf and Nahw. He also studied Quran, Tajweed and Arabic grammar with teachers including Qari Mustafa Al-Azhari (Egypt) and Mufti Yusuf Mulan (USA).
He has a Master’s degree with distinction from Coventry University (UK), Postgraduate teaching qualification from the University of Bath (UK), Bachelor’s degree from the University of the West of England (UK) and a Higher Diploma from the University of Plymouth (UK). In addition to his formal qualifications, he has worked in the field of education, training and educational leadership for over 20 years and has trained and mentored over a dozen teachers. His in-depth academic knowledge and practice of educational leadership and teaching pedagogy makes him one of the most competent and highly experienced educationalists.
As an outstanding secondary-school Head of Department and a highly effective instructor, Ustadh Aziz has the ability to decompose and impart complex knowledge effectively to his students. He uses current research in metacognition, retrieval and disciplinary literature to inform his teaching practice. He has produced his own teaching and learning resources and has written highly effective workbooks including Tajweed Gems, Excellence of the Quran and An Introduction to Arabic Grammar. He has successfully delivered courses covering Quran Tajweed, 40-Hadiths of Quranic Excellence and An Introduction to Arabic Grammar.
As a Talib Al-Ilm of sacred knowledge, Ustadh Aziz has a keen interest in Qira’ah of the Quran and vocal expressiveness of Arabic. As a Tajweed teacher, he records his own recitation of the Quran, Duas and Nasheeds and other content in various and unique styles to support his students’ Quran and Tajweed journey.
