There are five letters in this category, as identified in the section covering the Sifaat of letters. These are called echo (Qalqalah) letters and they are ق ط ب ج د . When these letters have a Sukoon on them, you read with an echo. To easily remember the letters, join them to form the Qalqalah ‘word’ which is قطب جد.
There are three levels of Qalqalah, which can be exemplified from Surat-ul-Masad. The lightest level is when a word contains a Qalqalah letter in the middle. For example, the ب in the verse فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ. The Intermediate level of Qalqalah is applied when a Qalqalah letter that does not have a Shaddah and appears at end of a word or verse. For example, the last ب in the verse مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ. As for the strongest level of Qalqalah, this relates to the Shaddah. Itis applied when a Qalqalah letter appears at end of a word or verse and has a Shaddah. For example, the last ب in the verse (Ayah) تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍۢ وَتَبَّ
