Temporary Madd (Madd Al-Aa’rid) is a secondary Madd (Madd Far’ee), which results from Sukoon. In other words, if a temporary Sukoon appears on a word that comes after a Madd letter, and you stop reciting, the letter needs to be elongated two to six Harakat (two to six seconds). However, if you do not pause on the letter, the temporary Madd becomes original Madd (Madd Asli), also known asnatural Madd (Madd Al-Tabee’ee), and you recite as normal. Examples are given below:
ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ, يُرِيدُ , ٱلْعِقَابِ , ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ , أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
